December 28, 9am Pacific
As a community committed to antiracism, members of NARTIC are greatly saddened by the devastating loss of life, suffering, and humanitarian crisis resulting in the war between Israel and Hamas. In response to a significant rise in antisemitism related to the war, some of us at NARTIC felt the need to hold a space for our U.S.-based Jewish counselor educators, counselors, and counseling students who might need a supportive space to come alongside them in times like these. This compassion circle will focus on: JEWISH COUNSELOR CARE WHEN CLIENTS, STUDENTS, AND/OR SUPERVISORS SHARE DIFFERENT VIEWS.
Zvi Bellin, professor at National University (MA Counseling), has agreed to facilitate a support space via Zoom on December 28. Zvi is a member of NARTIC. He can be reached at zbellin@nu.edu
Zvi Bellin was born and grew up immersed in Jewish community in Brooklyn, NY. His parents were born in Israel, and he has spent several years living in Israel. The conflict in Israel/Palestine has landed very heavily upon him and he has taken up the challenge to engage where possible in ways that increase compassion and decrease polarization in both Jewish and non-Jewish spaces.
We invite Jewish counselors and Jewish counselor-educators (of any denomination/ethnicity) to come together to process the spectrum of feelings held within the Jewish community and specifically consider the specific needs/responsibilities of Jewish counselors and Jewish counselor-educators in this stressful and painful moment.
